Dr. V. Sitaramam graduated in Medicine from Vellore, Madras University and took his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Indian Institute of Science, India. He worked for nearly a decade as a scientist at National Institute of Nutrition. Since 1987 he has been professor, and has been managing a manpower development program in biotechnology as a part of the national mandate in HRD at doctoral levels. He retired from the University in 2006. Dr. Sitaramam has been associated with national level task forces in biotechnology education and industry-academia interactions. He served for many years on grant-giving bodies such as the Department of Science & Technology, India, and on the editorial boards of Indian journals. He is also a reviewer for international journals. Dr. Sitaramam has received several awards, national and international academic fellowships, lectured abroad and conducted workshops in Brazil. Among his current interests is health economics, particularly the asymmetric entitlement to health services in rural areas, based on extensive mathematical modeling of Indian databases and structural biology. |
