Dr. Bhanu Chanda completed her graduation and post-graduation from Miranda House, Delhi University, with a Ph.D in Chemistry (under Prof T.R.Seshadri, FRS) from Delhi University. A 2-year Lecturership later, she obtained a second Ph.D degree from the UK as a Commonwealth fellow and after a 2-year post-doctoral research from Nottingham with Prof L.Crombie, FRS, Dr. Chanda joined NCL as a scientist. And retired from there in December, 2007 as Scientist F. At NCL, Dr. Bhanu’s research encompassed synthesis of biologically active natural products, asymmetric synthesis, biotransformation reactions, development of synthetic methodologies, ionic liquids, homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts etc. Applied and industrial research include processes for APIs and NCEs. She is also a recognised research guide from Pune University. Dr. Bhanu was earlier deputed to Germany under the CSIR-DAAD scientists exchange programme in 2000 and to France in 2001. Besides completing several projects including DST projects, she has several research papers, invited reviews, Indian and US patents to her credit, and is continuing as an expert PRC member under DSIR PATSER/TDDP programmes for various pharma-industry related projects. |
